Primary 1 - 6

Primary Stage

Our academic curriculum is designed to stretch each and every pupil, allowing them to reach their full potential and laying the foundations for their future studies.

English

The English Language Program at MNS is one that both students and parents take pride in. Through their English curriculum, MNS students are sure to develop the main skills of listening, reading, speaking, writing, and above all, thinking critically.

  • Objective

Our main objective is to develop the students’ characters and skills while using the English language effectively through:

  1. Enhancing speaking and listening skills through daily open class discussions.
  2. Enhancing reading skills through intensive and extensive reading comprehension, teaching advanced robust vocabulary as well as through the levelled reading program.
  3. Enhancing writing skills through integrating all parts of the curriculum to serve the writing purpose.
  4. Developing critical thinking skills through engaging students in discussions and arguments that require analysing characters and text that require forming opinions based on justifications.
  • Curriculum

The MNS English curriculum is based on the American Harcourt course Story Town in the primary stage.

Through this comprehensive course, students are exposed to a wide range of intensive and extensive reading texts of both fiction and nonfiction selections that dramatically increase the student’s understanding of the language by giving them a rock-solid foundation of sophisticated vocabulary, complex language skills, spelling rules, and a broad range of writing techniques, all presented through a well-integrated curriculum.

Story Town is smoothly integrated with the national curriculum requirements. At the same time, special attention is paid to reading and writing skills in a way that matches the British curriculum requirements.

Thus, with this unique integration of the national, American, and British requirements, the MNS English curriculum is finely woven to allow students not only to fit in any system but to excel as well.

An English Reading Program throughout the primary stage goes hand in hand with the General English Program at MNS. Through the English Reading Program, MNS students are introduced to a variety of reading genres presented at different levels.

Students progress from one level of reading to another while being closely monitored by specialized reading teachers that deal with each student on an individual basis, making sure that each is improving her/his level of reading and comprehension while paying specific attention to accuracy, intonation, the pace of reading, and word expression.

To enhance language skills, students attend weekly fluency classes to cater to the student’s pronunciation, intonation, and oral skills.

  • Term Projects / Presentations

In order to enhance fluency, confidence, and presentation skills, term projects/presentations are a crucial part of our English curriculum.

Science

The MNS science department provides a comprehensive educational system that enables each student to function as a member through a hands-on approach that caters to developing the student’s his/her multisensory approach.

All MNS science laboratories are well-resourced and fully equipped to enhance a better understanding of their curriculum and develop the main skills of observing, measuring, analysing, applying, and concluding, facilitated by our highly qualified staff members.

  • Objectives

Students will be able to think outside the box by developing their critical thinking skills and building their social and intrapersonal skills.

We provide opportunities for students to reach their full potential, applying and integrating science into everyday life experiences through our teaching methodology.

  • Curriculum

For primary 1 to primary 3, the curriculum is tailored to relate to the student’s everyday experiences.

For primary 4 to primary 6, we abide by the ministry of education books, but with global educational concepts and methodologies.

Math

What children learn and experience during their early years shapes their views of themselves and of life around them. Our teachers play a vital role in developing our students’ critical thinking skills.

Critical thinking “reflective and reasonable thinking that is focused on deciding what to believe or do” is an essential part of our approach to teaching Math.

  • Objective

Through using the latest teaching techniques and methodologies, we aim to enable students to:

  1. Develop their knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts and techniques.
  2. Acquire a foundation of mathematical skills for further study in the subject.
  3. Understand the importance of mathematics in real life.
  4. Reach their full potential and be prepared for the demands of real-life situations.
  • Curriculum

We abide by the ministry of education books from primary 1 to primary 6 but with global educational concepts and methodologies.

Second language

At MNS, we are strong advocates for the importance of mastering a second language. Our priority at MNS is the development of all four language skills: Listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

According to the European learning framework, all languages are divided into 6 levels. Starting Kg2, we start offering our students French or German orally first, so they would get familiar with the sounds of the language.

Starting in primary 3, students start getting introduced to the written language, reaching level B1 by the time they graduate.
